Pediatric dentist

A pediatric dentist is a specialist who is responsible for a child’s oral health from newborn to grown-up: from the first primary tooth, to first permanent tooth, to adolescence and beyond. It is great when a child trusts their dentist, comes to the clinic with no anxiety and is calm about any upcoming visits.

Education

1985-1990: Vilnius 56th secondary school.

1991–1996: Kaunas Medical University, Faculty of Dentistry.

2007–2010: Residency in Pediatric dentistry, Vilnius University, Faculty of Medicine, Institute of Dentistry.

2016: PhD, Vilnius university, Faculty of Medicine, thesis “Different aspects of oral health, dental treatment needs and oral health-related quality of life In Lithuanian patients with haemophilia - a case control study”. Biomedical sciences, dentistry.

Memberships

From 2004 onwards: Member, Lithuanian Dental Chamber.

Qualifications

Pediatric dentist dr. Rūta Žaliūnienė goes to scientific conferences each year, has presented lectures in Lithuania, also abroad in Berlin and Melbourne, publishes articles in scientific journals and other media. In 2020 she completed a new study about the preparation of children with autism spectrum disorder for dental procedures by performing repeated tasks. She devotes a large proportion of her time to patients with chronic diseases.

She is fluent in Russian and English.
